Main Street Program

The North Carolina Main Street & Rural Planning Center selected Mebane as one of six municipalities in its Downtown Associate Community Program (DAC).  The Downtown Associate Community program is the path that the Center has established to gain entrance into the N.C.  Main Street program, a goal identified in the City’s adopted Downtown Vision Plan.

The Center will work with selected communities to establish an asset-based economic development strategy that will transform downtown. The communities will develop a comprehensive implementation plan based on the Four-Point Approach® methodology that focuses on economic vitality, design, promotion and organization.
