Laurie Sawyer

Laurie joined the RPAC in January 2023

Originally from New Jersey, Laurie earned a BS in Health and Exercise Science from Wake Forest University and an MPH from UNCG. She has been a resident of Mebane since 2003. She and her husband, Scott, have raised their two boys, Owen and Evan, in Mebane, and they have enjoyed the city’s many parks and programs over the years. Laurie has extensive work experience with the developmentally disabled and senior populations, however, she suffered a significant leg injury in 2007 that resulted in extensive rehabilitation and ultimately a new career path in the financial services industry. Laurie worked on her walking extensively in the community’s parks, which created her desire to serve on the Recreation and Parks Advocacy Commission. During her free time, Laurie enjoys cheering on her boys in swimming and soccer, reading, spending time outdoors, and enjoying time with her two Lakeland Terriers.
