The Public Information Office manages the City’s brand, creates transparency, and engages the community through outreach and education. Utilizing various social media resources, the public information officer will implement municipal communications, strategic marketing, and public education campaigns to support City initiatives. This will include preparing and distributing press releases, and newspaper articles, photographing city events or programs, and maintaining the content on the City’s website. The public information officer will also manage media relations and handle the media effectively in compliance with applicable rules, policies, and procedures. Through continuous input from departments on marketing and communication needs, the public information officer will promote and communicate specific messages about the City of Mebane. Serving as a highly visible role, this department will engage in extensive contact with the City Council, City staff, business owners, local and regional partners, and the public.
Our goal is to provide essential and non-essential information or major news to the public in a timely and reliable fashion. We aim to promote awareness of Mebane and the surrounding region by developing and disseminating information to the community regarding City activities and services.
The Public Information Office has a website called "Positively Mebane" where you can access City videos, events, and official documents such as the City Council meeting recaps and PowerPoints.
