Finally, there is a drop box for cash or checks on the side of City Hall, as well as US mail service.

The City had already suspended water disconnections and late fees for nonpayment of bills for March, and on March 31, the Governor issued Executive Order #124, adopted by the NC Utilities Commission, which barred utilities from disconnections or penalties for late payments for 60 days to provide relief to consumers in light of COVID-19.  On May 30, the Governor issued Executive Order #142 that extended the provisions of EO124 to July 29 unless further amended.  EO124/142 expired on July 29th at midnight.   Eligible customers have been mailed information about signing up for a 6-month payment plan to pay off amounts that became past due from March 31 – July 29, 2020.  Click here for more information.
