The Public Works Department provides essential services to the citizens of Mebane in a prompt, courteous, safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. Public Works, through its dedicated employees, strives to plan, design, build, maintain, and operate public infrastructure in a manner that respects the environment and the ability of government to adequately preserve these assets for succeeding generations.

Department Services

Public Works is comprised of the Street Maintenance, Sanitation, Cemetery, and Beautification Divisions.  These divisions provide many of the basic services to the citizens of Mebane; which includes city maintained streets, stormwater,  and refuse collections and disposal.

In addition, Public Works also maintains many of the City's public buildings, three cemeteries, and many of the attractive amenities found around the city that helps to make Mebane Positively Charming.

Objective

Our goal is to provide our service to the community in a professional and competent manner. Our biggest compliment is to have our residents just "assume and expect" it will get done without having to complain. We are proud of our City and will constantly strive to improve and keep it a model of beauty and efficiency.
