About Us

The Public Works Department provides essential services to the citizens of Mebane in a prompt, courteous, safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. Through its dedicated employees, Public Works strives to plan, design, build, maintain, and operate public infrastructure in a manner that respects the environment and the government’s ability to adequately preserve these assets for succeeding generations.

Department Services

Public Works comprises the Street Maintenance, Sanitation, Fleet Services, Facility Maintenance, and Beautification Divisions.  These divisions provide many of the essential services to the citizens of Mebane, which include city-maintained streets, stormwater, and refuse collections and disposal.

In addition, Public Works maintains many of the City's public buildings, three cemeteries, and attractive amenities around the city, which helps to keep Mebane Positively Charming.

Objective

Our goal is to provide our service to the community professionally and competently. Our biggest compliment is that our residents just "assume and expect" it will get done. We are proud of our city and will constantly strive to improve it and keep it a model of beauty and efficiency.
