Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission

BPAC Positions Available – APPLY TODAY!

Interested residents of the City and Orange County extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) are invited to apply for two positions on the Mebane Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC). The City seeks to fill an open City position and an open position representing the Orange County part of the City or ETJ. Applicants should be experienced and knowledgeable of bicycle and pedestrian matters, including the City of Mebane Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan.

Applications are due Tuesday, January 18, 2022. Residents have various options for submitting an application:

  • Apply online through the Civic Rec portal.
  • Download an application and email it to [email protected] or mail it to 106 East Washington Street.
  • Visit the Planning & Inspections office at 102 S Fifth Street to complete a paper copy of the application.


Since adoption of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan in 2015, the City of Mebane created the Mebane Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC) to advise the City Council on how to most effectively serve the bicycle, pedestrian, and related needs of Mebane. The BPAC includes seven members who meet monthly and are primarily supported by the City’s Planning and Recreation & Parks Departments. All BPAC members live in Mebane’s planning jurisdiction, bringing passion for the community and advocating for pedestrian and cyclist safety and accessibility.

The BPAC meets at 6:00 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month. All meetings of the BPAC are open to the public.
